The Institute of International Education (IIE) is pleased to share with you application guidelines for a special initiative under the Language Training Center (LTC) Program. Through this solicitation, the LTC Program is seeking proposals from U.S. Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) to provide Foreign Area Officers (FAOs) with professional development and skills enrichment in regional and area studies.
The LTC Program is a major initiative of the Defense Language and National Security Education Office. Through a partnership between the Department of Defense (DoD) and IHEs, the LTC Program has supported the language and cultural training needs of a wide range of DoD personnel, including military linguists, intelligence analysts, special operations forces, foreign area officers, and the general purpose forces.
The goal of this special initiative is to provide FAOs with advanced understanding and analysis of the most current regional security affairs, and the impact of regional activities on interagency and joint operations in a seminar forum by leveraging regional and area studies programs at U.S. institutions of higher education working with government and private sector experts to meet the existing and demonstrated training needs of DoD units, offices, or agencies.
The deadline for the receipt of proposals is April 24, 2015. A webinar will be held to field questions regarding this solicitation on Monday, March 30, 2015, 3:00-4:00 p.m. Eastern Time. To participate in the webinar, please send an email to LTC@iie.org indicating the names and email addresses of the attendees. The applicant will receive a confirmation email with instructions for participation in the webinar. Following the webinars, FAQs will be posted on the IIE and NSEP websites.
IIE serves as the administrative agent for the LTC Program and considers it a distinct pleasure to take part in this important effort. Thank you in advance for your interest in this special initiative and for your assistance in distributing this information to other interested colleagues.
