2019 Foreign Area Officers Regional Skills Sustainment Initiative Request for Proposal

The Institute of International Education (IIE) is pleased to share with you application guidelines for the Foreign Area Officers Regional Skills Sustainment Initiative, a special initiative under the LTC Program. Through this solicitation, the LTC Program is seeking proposals from U.S. Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) to provide Foreign Area Officers (FAOs) with professional development and skills enrichment in regional and area studies.

The goal of this initiative is to provide FAOs with advanced understanding and analysis of the most current regional security affairs, and the impact of regional activities on interagency and joint operations in a seminar forum by leveraging regional and area studies programs at U.S. Institutions of Higher Education working with government and private sector experts to meet the existing and demonstrated training needs of DoD units, offices, or agencies.

The deadline for the receipt of proposals is May 24, 2019.  A webinar for institutions was held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. (Eastern Time) to field questions regarding this solicitation. All applicants were required to participate in the webinar.  A recording of the May 1 webinar can be found below.

IIE serves as the administrative agent for the LTC Program and considers it a distinct pleasure to take part in this important effort. Thank you in advance for your interest in this special initiative and for your assistance in distributing this information to other interested colleagues.  Please direct questions concerning this solicitation to [email protected].
